gabriela seifert and goetz stoeckmann and artist ottmar hoerl. their studio is
based in frankfurt, germany but one of their best known projects is in the
historic town of gelnhause, germany. ‘living room’ is a contemporary residence
situated in the town’s medival centre. the house is clad in powder-coated
aluminum panels which are dotted with regularly spaced windows which allow
passer-bys to peer inside. the house has 52 such windows and one section
which can be slid out from the house to create an indoor balcony. a special
sound technology turns outdoor noise into ambient sound on the interior.
most strikingly, the main floor’s dining room sits on a natural slab of stone."
